For many years the two dressing rooms behind the stage were used for pantomimes and amateur dramatics. Since those activities fell out of favour the rooms have become effectively storage cupboards.
Problems with the dressing rooms:
Uninsulated and very difficult to heat in winter
Can only be accessed through the main hall
Users have to walk through the hall to reach the kitchen
Good things abut the stage and dressing room area:
Two light bright rooms for smaller groups
Masses of storage under the stage
A stage for musicians at ceilidhs and other parties
There’s a toilet
Our solutions to the problems:
A separate entrance from the car park
Add a little kitchen so users don’t have to disturb others in the big hall
Reduce the size of the stage – there’ll still be space for musicians
